Project Abstract
The aim is the integrated development of technologies that extend beyond the current capabilities of robotic underwater platforms, and in particular autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), enabling them to be deployed and autonomously perform its assigned missions for extended periods of time. The partners will in particular work on contactless underwater power transmission and wireless communications. In addition, navigation and control strategies that enable the vehicle to perform its inspection and monitoring activities will complement the key technological challenges of the project. The motivation of the partners arises from specific needs for long term monitoring of fish-farm infrastructures. In this application, AUVs could be used to study wild fish aggregations in such structures and to monitor the benthos under the fish farms.
INTENDU is funded by the MarTERA partners Foundation for Science and Technology Portugal (FCT), Research Council of Norway (RCN) and French National Research Agency (ANR) and co-funded by the European Union.
