Project Abstract
The aim is to develop processing technologies for subsea camera images to extract information about fish size distributions, fish behavior, fish abundance and biomass. This technology will be valuable for monitoring of wild and farmed fish stocks but also for bio-monitoring, where fish and animals are used as indicators for the state of the environment. BIOSYS technology can become an effective and cost-efficient tool for on-line monitoring of aquatic environment, providing rapid detection of alterations in water quality and real time feedback.
BIOSYS is funded by the MarTERA partners Research Council of Norway (RCN) and French National Research Agency (ANR) and co-funded by the European Union.
