MarTERA Call 2021 Announcement
MarTERA has launched a fourth joint call for transnational research and innovation projects on 2021-01-04. This call is initiated by ministries/funding organisations from 9 countries: Belarus, Belgium, Germany, Malta, Norway, Poland, Romania, South Africa and Turkey .The total funding budget is EUR 8.5 million.
The call will covers the following priority areas:
Applicants from the above mentioned countries are eligible for funding and applicants from other countries are eligible in case they fund their own involvement.
The Call 2021 is implemented as a two-step procedure (a pre-proposal and a full-proposal step). The deadline for the submission of pre-proposals via the online platform is 2021-03-26.

Step 2 Outcomes
9 full proposals with the total requested funding of € 9.5 million passed the step 2 procedure of the third joint transnational call. The following table summarises the outcomes of the step 2 procedure of the MarTERA Call 2020.
The 9 consortia are currently working with the involved funding agencies on the national contract negotiations. The projects are scheduled to start from mid 2021.
In 2019, MarTERA launched the second transnational call for collaborative research projects which was jointly initiated by 13 funding organisations. Following the ranking of the International Evaluation Panel, the MarTERA Steering Committee recommended 12 full proposals for funding (total cost EUR 20 million, requested funding EUR 15 million). These 12 projects are granted funding from the national funding organisations. All projects from the MarTERA Call 2019 started successfully in mid 2020. In 2017, MarTERA opened the first transnational call for collaborative research which was initiated by 18 funding organisations of the former ERA-NET MARTEC consortium and JPI OCEANS members from 16 countries/regions and cofounded by the European Union under Horizon 2020.
Following the ranking of the International Evaluation Panel, the MarTERA Steering Committee recommended 19 full proposals for funding (total cost EUR 33 million, requested funding EUR 23 million). These 19 projects were granted funding from the national funding organisations and cofunding by the EU. All projects from the first MarTERA call started successfully in early/mid 2018.
